This policy explains what information Backyard Trading LLC collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our software (including HotHand and BajaClaw), our mobile apps, and the sale of our physical goods.
Contents
1. Who we are
Backyard Trading LLC (“Backyard Trading,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a limited liability company formed in California, United States. We are the controller responsible for your personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@backyardtrading.dev.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — name, email address, and password (stored hashed) when you create an account.
- Purchase & billing information — items ordered, shipping address for physical goods, and billing details. Card numbers are processed by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
- Usage data — how you interact with our products: pages and features used, queries run, settings, and approximate session timing.
- Device & technical data — IP address, browser or app version, operating system, device identifiers, and diagnostic/crash logs.
- Support communications — messages you send us and their contents.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising or cross-context behavioral tracking.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, operate, and maintain our products and your account.
- To process orders, payments, and shipments of physical goods.
- To respond to support requests and communicate service updates.
- To monitor, debug, secure, and improve our products.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We rely on the legal bases of performance of a contract (to deliver what you signed up for), legitimate interests (to secure and improve our products), consent (where required, e.g. certain communications), and legal obligation.
4. Mobile apps & App Store disclosures
For apps we distribute through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or similar stores, the “privacy nutrition label” shown on the store listing reflects the data practices described here. In summary:
| Data type | Used for | Linked to you? | Used to track you? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact info (email) | App functionality, account | Yes | No |
| Purchases | App functionality | Yes | No |
| Usage data | Analytics, product improvement | Yes | No |
| Diagnostics / crash data | App functionality, debugging | No | No |
| Identifiers | App functionality | Yes | No |
We do not use Apple’s App Tracking Transparency tracking, and we do not link your activity with data from other companies’ apps or websites for advertising. Mobile platforms also give you OS-level controls over notifications, location, and tracking permissions.
5. When we share data
We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, including:
- Hosting & infrastructure — to run our websites and apps.
- Database & backend services — to store account and product data.
- Payment processors — to take payment and prevent fraud.
- Shipping & fulfillment partners — to deliver physical goods.
- App stores — Apple and Google, for distribution and in-app purchases.
We may also disclose information to comply with law, enforce our agreements, protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice where required).
6. Cookies & local storage
Our website uses strictly necessary cookies and local storage to remember preferences (such as dismissing the privacy notice) and to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Loading our web fonts may expose your IP address to the font provider. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; some features may then not work.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above: for the life of your account plus a reasonable wind-down period, and longer where required for tax, accounting, or legal reasons. You can request deletion at any time (see your rights below).
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California (under the CCPA/CPRA) have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” — and we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. Residents of the EEA and UK have rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR.
To exercise any right, email hello@backyardtrading.dev. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
9. Age requirements
Our products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Some products — including sports-data tools such as HotHand — are intended only for adults and may require you to be 18 or older (or 21+ where applicable). HotHand provides informational statistics and analytics only; it is not betting advice and does not guarantee any outcome.
10. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, hashed credentials, and other reasonable safeguards to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International data transfers
We operate in the United States. If you access our products from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries with different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
